Arts Alliance of Stratford to Sponsor Live Make Music Day Celebration
This Summer Solstice Event is Back
June 14, 2021 – Stratford, CT – The Alliance continues its re-emergence after a very successful day at Stratford’s Main Street Festival with two upcoming events.
“It will be a very busy weekend, and we continue to be grateful for the community’s support as we get back to normal. Working closely with Sterling House Community Center and the town of Stratford, we’re excited to be able to do this year’s Make Music Day in person again,” says Mark Hannon, President.
On Sunday, June 20th, the celebration continues. In partnership with the Shakespeare Market, we’ll have live music and arts at The Alliance’s booth from 10 AM to 4 PM.
Then, Monday, June 21st, is the annual Make Music Day. This is a free celebration of music around the world on the same day each year, often falling on the Summer Solstice. It began in 1982 in France and is now a global event in more than 1,000 cities and 120 countries.
“The Make Music Day event begins at 3:45 PM and runs through 8:30 PM on the grounds of the Shakespeare Theater Park. The exciting news is that we are planning an Artisan’s Market around the circle of the driveway with food trucks for picnic dinners while watching and listening to live music and enjoying the views of the Housatonic River at sunset. Come spend the day and evening with us. There will be six food trucks, six bands, and lots of artisans and crafts, along with activities for kids,” Hannon says.
