The Alliance and our partner Sterling House would like to showcase the creativity outside the arts community. We invite people with a passion for the arts who work in occupations unrelated to the arts to show the world what you’ve got.

After hours, many find their mojo creating music, visual arts, dance, writing or in other creative pursuits. If this is you, we’d love to see your work.

For this show, we seek creative souls, whether you identify as a creative or you’ve been keeping it under wraps, we ask you to show us your stuff.

To be eligible for this show, you must have a creative outlet (that you can show us) while earning your living from, or retired from a non creative field. No matter what career path you’ve followed or what job you hold…if art is not your main career and you have a creative life after hours, we invite you to submit your work.

All prevailing CDC Covid-19 protocols will be observed and posted outside the gallery. Masks will be required inside the gallery.

First, second and third prize certificates will be awarded (non cash, just bragging rights) as well as a “People’s Choice,” selected by visitors to the gallery by ballot. This winner of the Peoples’ Choice vote will be awarded free entry into a future show.

The call for artists is open to both visual art and performance art (spoken word, music, dance, dramatic arts)*

*Performers will submit a framed photograph of themselves, their troupe, band, etc, engaged in a performance. When the show is hung, the card below the framed photo will include a QR code that will take the viewer to the performer’s YouTube/Vimeo channel or website to view the performance(s).

Submission guidelines:

  • Gallery space is limited so submit early.
    • The website submission form will close to new entries on Tuesday November 2, 2021 at 11:59 PM.
    • If we reach our maximum number of entries that will fit in the gallery earlier than November 2, the submission form will close to all new entries.
  • Submission fees
    • Arts Alliance of Stratford members
      • One piece” $20.00
      • Two Pieces: $25.00
    • Non-members
      • One piece” $30.00
      • Two Pieces: $35.00
  • All artwork must be submitted through the form on this website
  • 2-dimensional (flat) work only
  • Up to 2 pieces may be submitted per individual.
    • Maximum size (including frame) is 16″ x 20″
  • All work needs to be wired for hanging
    • Stretched canvases do not need to be framed but they must have a wire attached to the stretchers for hanging.
  • The gallery at Sterling House Community Center is a multi-use space used by many groups, including children. All work must be family-friendly.
  • To be sure the show has a balance of work, percentage limits will be applied to both visual and performance art.
  • The committee will notify all who entered work in the show on November 4 regarding if the work has been accepted
    • If your work has been accepted, drop off your piece(s) on Saturday, November 6 between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM.

Pick up work after the show

At the show’s conclusion, work must be picked up on Sunday, December 4 from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
