The Alliance invites community artists from the region to share their interpretation of the theme Inspired by…

Have you ever felt emotion when seeing a picture, hearing a song, watching dancers’ movements, watching a film, reading a poem, book or even the news? Has it called you to action? Maybe you were called to activism. Maybe to create a piece of art or to write a story.

For this show, we ask community visual and performing artists to submit entries evoked by something that elicited an emotion. Along with the entry, please share who, what, where or why you were driven to create this piece; in other words, what you were inspired by. Visual art, music, written/spoken word, dance art forms encouraged.

We invite artists to submit 1-2 pieces. See terms & conditions for maximum dimensions of framed piece(s) and other important information.

Performers will be showcasing their work online, from a link in the gallery. Performing artists will submit a photo of themselves engaged in the performance, along with their inspiration for the work. A framed photo with the inspiration will be hung in a frame in the gallery. A QR code will bring the viewer to the artists’ video channels or websites of their choice. All performance artists will provide the link to their online performances for review in the registration form below.

This show is open to all community artists, members and non-members of the Alliance. All works will be adjudicated based on quality and adherence to the theme. In addition, works must be family friendly as it will be in a public space visited by children. The Alliance reserves the right to limit entries according to space availability and cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage.

While we are happy to begin welcoming people back from the pandemic, all prevailing CDC Covid-19 protocols will be observed and posted outside the gallery.

First, second and third prize certificates will be awarded as well as a “People’s Choice,” selected by visitors to the gallery by ballot. This winner of the Peoples’ Choice vote will award the winning artist free entry into a future show.

Submission fees:

As a community show, and a “Welcome back to the arts gift,” we are waiving fees for this show. Donations will gladly be accepted to defray our costs.

Sale of artwork:

The Arts Alliance of Stratford will take a 30% commission of all 2D work which is sold in the show.


2D work must be framed and wired, or otherwise ready to hang. 2D works missing picture wire or some other device for hanging will not be included in the show.

Size limit for 2D works is 16″ X 20″.

3D works will not be accepted due to insufficient resources and floor space to display them.

After the show closes, artwork can be picked up at Sterling House Community Center on Sunday, June 13 between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM.
