The show committee will thoughtfully review all Artist submissions to this exhibit. We agree that every artist’s work(s) will be considered based on the required, completed submission form, as well as the criteria, including but not limited to: technique, adherence to the theme, originality, use of media, skill, composition and presentation.
The Artist understands that:
- submission of artwork does not guarantee admittance to the exhibit.
- an incomplete submission is subject to rejection by the committee
- any submission that does not follow the criteria or is deemed inappropriate for a family-friendly environment will be rejected by the committee.
Artists selected by the jury will be notified no later than the date specified in the prospectus. The Alliance reserves the right to limit entries according to space availability.
Submissions for our art shows must be newly created (or at least new to us). Submissions which have been exhibited in an Arts Alliance of Stratford (the Alliance) show within the last 5 years will not be accepted.
Limits of liability:
Sterling House and the Alliance will not be responsible for loss or theft of artwork on display as this is an unmonitored public space. The gallery will be used by children and others during the show period. There is a security camera monitoring the room. In case of loss or theft, video footage will be provided to the Police Department, should you want to pursue the matter. The Alliance will do its best to ensure the safety of your work.
The artist hereby fully and forever, releases, discharges, and agrees not to sue Arts Alliance of Stratford or Sterling House Community Center, or any of their affiliates/representatives/successors for any and all claims, causes of action or liability for any injury, loss or damage sustained or incurred by artist or guests arising out of or in any way associated with attendance at or participation in the exhibit. Arts Alliance of Stratford, nor any of its affiliates/representatives/successors, will not be held responsible for any lost, damaged, or stolen property at any time during exhibit, install, de-install, art drop off or any other time relating to exhibit.
Artwork must be securely wired for hanging or it will not be accepted. This includes framed, as well as written or text-based submissions.
Sale of artwork
A 30% commission will be retained for all work sold throughout the duration of the exhibition or sold privately by the artist during the period that the work is on exhibit at Sterling House Community Center.
Payments to the artists for any work sold will be made after the closing of the show. Artists can expect payments to go out within 1- to 2-weeks after the close of the show.
Juried prizes
An independent judge will be invited to review the entries to select the first, second and third prize winners prior to the opening reception. A non-cash prize for Honorable Mention will also be chosen. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners during the opening reception. If the winner cannot attend the opening reception, the prize will be mailed to him/her. The judge’s decisions are final and cannot be appealed.
Pick up after the show:
Work must be picked up on the date designated in the prospectus.
If you will be shipping your work, it must arrive by the deadline stated in the prospectus. Artists MUST provide an additional container with prepaid label or postage to return the work after the show ends.
